The Central Maryland Area Health Education Center (CMAHEC) was established in 2003 as a vital link between the academic resources of the University of Maryland, Baltimore, other major academic health centers, and local community organizations.
Supported by the Maryland AHEC Program at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and funded in part by HRSA, CMAHEC delivers evidence-based programs through educational partnerships and community collaborations.
CMAHEC focuses on recruiting, training, and retaining a healthcare workforce for medically underserved communities across Baltimore City and County, Prince George's, Anne Arundel, Howard, Carroll, and Harford Counties.
CMAHEC serves residents across Baltimore City and six surrounding counties, with offices in Baltimore and Columbia.
CMAHEC is funded in part by HRSA through the Maryland AHEC Program at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit also supported by the University of Maryland Medical Center Community Benefits.
CMAHEC is one of three community-based Area Health Education Centers in Maryland, part of a national network of more than 250 AHEC centers.
