Community Health Programs

CMAHEC supports and sponsors numerous community health programs — from opioid response and CPR to chronic disease self-management and health-related social needs assessments — fostering a healthier central Maryland.

What we offer

CMAHEC offers a robust portfolio of community health programs, connecting central Maryland residents with services, screenings, and education that improve health outcomes and equity.

Community Health Worker Programs

CMAHEC CHWs conduct health-related social needs assessments, information, referrals, and service navigation for community members throughout central Maryland.

Chronic Disease Self-Management

Certified health educators conduct workshops on chronic disease, diabetes self-management, hypertension self-monitoring, and blood pressure management in partnership with the American Heart Association.

Opioid Response Program

CMAHEC is a certified Opioid Response Program (ORP) with the Maryland Department of Health. We provide risk reduction training and distribute Naloxone to community members.

CPR Training & Certification

CMAHEC CPR trainers conduct community demonstrations as well as certification and re-certification courses for community members and health professionals.

Dementia Live® Program

Small-group presentations simulating life with cognitive impairment, helping families and caregivers better understand and support loved ones living with dementia.

Youth & School Partnerships

CMAHEC partners with schools including Benjamin Franklin High School, Vivien T. Thomas Medical Arts Academy, and Franklin Square Middle School to provide mentorship and health careers information.

Health Screenings & Outreach

Health professionals, students, and CHWs conduct health-related social needs assessments, health screenings, and consultations in community settings across central Maryland.

Depression Screening

Certified health educators provide depression screening services in community and clinical settings throughout central Maryland.
